Ferrotec Corporation, founded in September 1980
to import and sell ferrofluid and ferrofluidic products, is a public
company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. It has manufacturing, sales
and service facilities worldwide.
The company is the world leader in magnetic fluid technology and is
a supplier to many high technology companies worldwide.
Magnetic fluids were developed by NASA and in 1968 Ferrotec's US subsidiary,
Ferrotec (USA) Corporation (formerly Ferrofluidics) was founded to
develop the technology and discover commercial applications for it.
Applications were quickly found for the technology including vacuum
seals and computer seals. These products containing magnetic fluids
are now widely used in a number of industries such as semiconductor
processing and information communication.
Ferrotec also designs and manufactures thermoelectric modules - small,
solid state devices that rely on the Peltier effect to cool or heat
when an electrical current is passed through it.
Thermoelectric modules are expanding Ferrotec's business in to new
markets such as medical, automotive, telecommunications and home electronics.
Through being responsive to the needs of electronic and other high
tech industries, Ferrotec is contributing to technological progress
in the 21st century. |
